The Hamilton Co. Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred on Feb. 13, southwest of 191st Street and Promise Road in Noblesville. Deputies responded to the 18900 block of Mallery Road shortly after 9 p.m. on the report of a residential burglary in progress. A perimeter was set, and K-9 officers attempted a track, but the suspect fled prior to the arrival of deputies.

Police said the homeowner stated she returned from an evening church service and entered her residence when she was confronted by a male in her bedroom who then began to hit her. Police said when the victim fought back, the suspect attempted to strangle her and the victim said she believed she lost consciousness. After the victim awoke, the suspect was gone. Police said the victim was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released a short time later. A few small items including electronics and cash were taken during the incident.

Investigators say they have limited information on the suspect who the victim could only describe as wearing a thick coat and black mask. Police said this is the only such case reported in Hamilton Co. and is believed to be an isolated incident at this time.

Sheriff’s Office officials encourage homeowners, as always, to keep doors, including garage doors, closed and locked even while at home. Keeping homes well lit and alarms activated may help deter criminal activity. Residents are encouraged to be alert and report any suspicious activity through Hamilton Co. Public Safety Communications at 773-1282 or 911 for an emergency.

Anyone with information should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 776-9887 or 773-1282.
