On Feb. 5, fourth graders at Promise Road Elementary were visited by two 1936 “farmers,” looking to debate whether electricity should be used for their business. The “farmers,” (really Conner Prairie historic interpreters) debated with students about the merits of electricity, including safety and convenience. Wide use of electricity came to Indiana the same year. The fourth grade classes at the school studied building circuits for more than two weeks, in conjunction with learning about the state’s history with electricity.
