City brush pickup begins today

The Noblesville Street Dept. will today, March 14, begin picking up brush through Oct. 14.

Pickups are made on the street side only with no alley collections. All brush must be placed as close to the curb as possible without going in to the street.

Residents are asked to stack brush in small piles that are no more than four feet in length and 18 inches in diameter, and individual limb size should be no more than four inches in diameter. If a resident’s brush pile exceeds the listed size, street department crews will report the address to the office, and a knuckleboom truck will be by within a week to pick up the large pile.

“We are pleased to offer this free service to our residents again,” Street Commissioner Patty Johnson stated in a press release. “Brush pickup is meant for homeowner trimmings and not intended for contractor’s to utilize when being paid to remove residential trees.”

The street department picks up brush each week on the same day as residents’ regular trash collection day but not necessarily the same time. Because of the large number of limbs lost during the winter windstorms, the street department asks residents to be patient with the timeliness of pickup initially.

After Oct. 14, residents must call the street department at 776-6348 to arrange for a special brush pickup.
