Westfield Washington Township holds launch party

Late last month, the Westfield Washington Township held a launch party at Grand Junction Brewery to establish a new strategic plan with the launch of a new website and program guide. City officials and distinguished business owners in the community attended.

Danielle Carey Tolan, the township trustee since January 2015, presented the new strategic plan.

“I grew up so unaware of what Westfield did and all the services they provided,” she said. “As I became more involved, I was still amazed that most of the community had no idea that Westfield had a township. We want to be known, recognized, utilized and valued.”

Tolan said that throughout her year as trustee, she has been working to develop the strategic plan to make the township a better place.

“We are consolidating the parks programs to increase efficiency and decrease duplication, so the township will be hosting all of the parks programs,” she said. “We strive to find more efficient ways to provide high quality services in the community. We are launching a new guide, Our Westfield Washington Network. It’s expanded into community wide programs and events, not just parks programming. It will be a one-stop shop for all community happenings.”

The OWWN guide will be mailed in April.

In addition to the guide, Tolan said the township rebranded to attract more attention with vibrant colors and a new look.

“It’s time to enact our long-term vision. We have reinvented the township, and we have strived to collaborate with the city and other organizations to provide good quality services and be as efficient as possible,” she said.

What does the township do?

Township assistance, fire protection in unincorporated areas, planning and zoning, cemetery care, parks and recreation, burial assistance, fence disputes, weed control and more.
