Obituary: Lelah Belle Gamron

Lelah Belle Gamron, 101, Noblesville, died March 18, 2016 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. She was born July 19, 1914 to W.G. and Carrie (Sparrow) Newby in Sheridan, Ind.

Lelah graduated from Sheridan High School in 1932, which was the first graduating class of that particular building, now Adams Elementary School. For many years, she worked as Head Cashier at Standard Grocery in Noblesville. Lelah was a 60-plus year member of First Christian Church in Noblesville, a charter member of Senior Citizens Organization of Noblesville and a member of more than 75 years of the Order of the Eastern Star, having also served as Worthy Matron. Lelah loved traveling, reading and crocheting and was a fan of the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts and IU Basketball. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed wintering in Arizona.

Lelah is survived by her daughter, Patricia Swinford; three grandchildren, Mike (Dawn) Swinford, Cindy (Bob) Rowland and Michelle Swinford; two great-grandchildren, Patrick (Molli) Swinford and Laurissa Swinford; and two great-great-grandchildren, Joani Swinford and Wyatt Swinford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Emerson Moore and William Gamron; daughter Sue Moore; two sisters, Lillian and Fairy; brother Bill Newby; grandson Matthew Swinford; and two granddaughters, Crystal and Christine Swinford.
