The City of Fishers, Controller Oscar Gutierrez and his office have received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of United States and Canada for the fiscal year beginning Jan. 1.
Fishers’ budget had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation to receive the award. The GFOA’s guidelines assess how well a municipality’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
Budget documents have to be rated “proficient” in all four categories, as well as in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
For budgets beginning in 2015, approximately 1,550 participants received the award.
