Director of Grand Park Ken Alexander announced to the public Aug. 18 that he would be resigning from his position at the sports complex.

He said the reason he resigned is due to his returning to the construction business, a career he said has always been a passion of his.

“Grand Park has been a highlight of my career that knows no equal,” Alexander stated in an email to Current in Westfield. “To first assist in the construction and then run the facility has provided me with a unique opportunity every sports enthusiast craves. Having been involved in many large-scale building projects, nothing has touched my life and my family’s lives more than the development of Grand Park. I am extremely grateful to the mayor and the city council for providing me this opportunity. While I am excited about the next opportunity, the Westfield team will always hold a special place in my heart. Although my next opportunity will take me away from Westfield, I recognize that I have created relationships that will continue for years to come, and I hope that my construction career will bring me back to help continue the economic development that is the inspiration behind Grand Park.”

Alexander served as the director of Grand Park since January 2015. “We do not comment on personnel issues,” Communications Director Erin Murphy said.
