The Westfield Chamber of Commerce 2016 Lantern Awards won’t take place until Sept. 23, but the recipients have already been announced.

The Lantern Awards, originally known as Community Night, have been conducted since 1982 for the chamber to honor residents, businesses and city employees at a dinner and awards presentation. The recipients receive awards named after parts of the lantern to commemorate the city’s ties to the Underground Railroad.

This year’s Lantern Awards will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Palomino Ballroom, 481 South CR 1200 East, Zionsville.

“I love the Lantern Awards because we just focus on our community and all the great people and great businesses that are here,” Westfield Chamber of Commerce President Jack Russell said.
