Family-owned Centier Bank opened two branches in Boone County Sept. 14 – one inside Whitestown’s Meijer store and the other by the intersection of Ford Road and Oak Street.

“We appreciate the welcoming we have received from the town of Zionsville,” said President and CEO Michael Schrage, who is the fourth generation of leadership for Centier Bank.

“We have the fifth generation lined up,” he added. “You’ll see that fifth and sixth generation coming along, and we will preserve it.”

Zionsville town councilor Bryan Traylor, a senior vice president at Centier, was a factor in bringing the bank to Boone County.

“It represents a lot of what Zionsville is, which is family-owned businesses,” Traylor said.

Centier Bank with 54 locations across 11 counties in Indiana and is the largest, privately-owned, independent bank in Indiana. Schrage said he expected an expansion of four banks next year with Noblesville or Fishers as a northern Indianapolis possibility as early as late next year.

The bank was founded in 1895 in Whiting, Ind., as the Bank of Whiting. In celebration of the bank’s 100th anniversary, it was renamed Centier, symbolizing a century of service to be the premier bank in Indiana.

The Meijer location will be open daily with extended evening hours and a 24-hour ATM.

During the grand openings Schrage made a donation to east and west locations of the Zionsville Boys & Girls Clubs.
