Occurring this year on Nov. 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. This charitable day kicks-off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate on improving their local communities while giving back in impactful ways to the organizations and causes they support.

This #GivingTuesday, the Boys & Girls Club is challenging the community get involved by helping bridge the gap for ten club members. More than 280 members visit the club each day after school for $45 per year, while the actual cost to the Club is $428 per child, leaving a gap of $383. The club says its goal for the event is to raise a total of $3,830 to bridge the gap for 10 memberships.

“A child left alone after school could easily become a victim,” Executive Director Becky Terry stated in a press release. “It could be bullying, peer pressure or other dangers. It happens more than you know, even in our community … support on Giving Tuesday can change all that. In fact, it could quite possibly save a life. We are asking our supporters to help change the world this holiday by impacting the life of a child.”
