Junior Achievement has honored Carmel city attorney Ashley Ulbricht as a Best and Brightest award winner. The award, presented Nov. 9 at Hilbert Circle Theatre, recognizes 100 central Indiana professionals, ages 40 and younger, in 10 categories.

Candidates are selected based on professional accomplishments, civic involvement and leadership qualities. One winner is selected from each category, with Ulbricht earning the top honor in the government group.

“During that reception they highlighted some of the children involved with Junior Achievement and discussed its mission. The awards ceremony itself highlighted Junior Achievement’s role with youth in central Indiana,” Ulbricht said. “A few of the children were helping to announce the finalists. They had a memorable speaker discuss how Junior Achievement affected them as a child. She’s now a bank president in Indianapolis.”

Ulbricht serves on several boards in her role as an attorney for the city. As a classically trained violinist, she’s also actively involved in the arts community in Carmel.

“I’m currently the president of The Scene, which is the young professionals group for the Center for the Performing Arts,” said Ulbricht, who is also a board member for the Center for the Performing Arts.

She has previously served on the Carmel Arts Council board of directors. She was nominated and served as a 2016 GOP State Convention delegate. Ulbricht also volunteers with the Carmel Youth Assistance Program.

Even though nominees were not required to work with Junior Achievement to receive the award, Ulbricht hopes to work with them in the future and continue her current roles.

“I want to get involved with Junior Achievement after winning the award and seeing what they do for children,” she said. “I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing, because I love Carmel and working in the community.”
