The annual Mr. Zionsville competition, a talent and variety show created almost entirely by seniors at Zionsville Community High School, returns to the Zionsville Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26.
The senior-led event is a fundraiser for the prom.
ZCHS senior Lily Farber, one of three directors of the show, has a long history with the competition. Her brother is a former contestant, and she has wanted to be a part of it since middle school.
“It’s always been something that I was interested in,” Farber said. “People will be blown away by the talent we have this year. There’s more happening this year than there was last year.”
“There are so many talented people doing all these things you didn’t even know they knew how to do,” said Julia Sifferlin, a senior who is one of the emcees. “In all the skits there are all these little Zionsville inside jokes.”
All 12 contestants are seniors, as are the skit writers, emcees and three main directors. Three additional directors are juniors who will coordinate the event the following year.
“It’s something unique that we do,” Farber said. “The boys can show what they’re good at, and it’s a way to get the whole school involved.”
A People’s Choice Award has been added this year. Tickets are $15 tickets and can be purchased by visiting zvilleperformingarts.com.
