Habitat for Humanity of Boone County will host its annual fundraising event, Building Futures, at 6 p.m. March 11 at the Golf Club of Indiana in Lebanon. The event is designed to generate in one hour enough funds to build a home.

“It’s an auction-style event, although you don’t leave with anything. We do use the phone auction process,” said Liz Qua, HFHBC executive director. “We go through the parts of the house, auction-style, and auction it off to be donated back to us. We will auction off a child’s bedroom, a porch, the front tree, etc., to make it a little more personal versus just auctioning off a lumber package.”

The evening also includes dinner, beverages and music from the Murray-Weirich Jazz Quintet. Zionsville Community Schools board member Shari Richey will be the emcee.

“We’re going to name a build after Steve Furste, our previous executive director. This will be the build honoring him. We’ll finish dinner and then show our video about Steve talking about his experience with Habitat and where he has taken it,” Qua said. “Then we’ll do a little bit of the bidding. Then we have a video of older children who have been in our houses, and how it’s changed their lives.”

The night will conclude with more bidding, dancing and drinks.

Tickets are $50 per person. They can be purchased at hfhbc.ticket.qtego.net. Attire is casual. For more, visit habitatboonecounty.org.
