The business will be in South Village at 575 South Main St., in an area previously occupied by Wildcat Creek Outfitters. The new space will be 5,500 square feet versus 3,000 square feet at its current location.

“When I saw it on paper I originally thought it was too big,” owner Mark Moreland said. “But when I walked in there, it doesn’t feel big. Staying small has always been our goal.”

Moreland said being able to offer more parking with additional showers for customers was important.

Moreland opened Body Outfitters in 2010 and employs seven trainers serving approximately 300 clients with the ability to add three additional trainers in the future.

“I’m really excited about South Village,” he said, noting the types of nearby businesses, the fitness trail that winds behind the building that gives people a reason to walk south of Sycamore Street.

Eighty-five percent of Body Outfitters’ business is one-on-one training. With the larger space, Moreland plans to add additional treadmills so clients can add their own cardiovascular exercise as needed.

Although he will miss being on Cedar Street, he said it’s time to allow another business needing the exposure of downtown Zionsville to rent the building.

“I feel like it was time for us to move out where we didn’t need the walk up traffic,” he said.

Moreland grew up in Zionsville and finds it “surreal” that he’s able to build his business in his hometown.

“I couldn’t have written that story,” he said.
