Keller is tentatively scheduled to start July 1. He’s already working to learn his new roles.

“One of my first objectives is just to do some evaluating and observing to see how training sessions currently occur, how staff is working with athletes, how staff is working together and really looking at the administrative component,” he said. “It’s a parent-run board. Some of the conversations I’ve had with people there on the board have been really outstanding and supportive.”

Keller brings 26 years of experience and success from Northridge Area Swimming Association and Northridge High School in Middlebury, Ind. During his time at Northridge, Keller amassed 29 sectional championships, numerous coach of the year award  and multiple national athletic and academic honors for his athletes.

He said there is already a strong foundation within the FAST program but wants to help it reach even higher levels of success.

“It’s really established, but there is a lot of work to be done to advance,” Keller said. “Carmel Swim Club has a really rich, deep history of success. Any given year, they are one of the top 20 swim clubs in the United States. Ultimately, I think it’s just a matter of time before we help Fishers get to that level.”

Keller doesn’t want to put a timeline on success.

“The club is really still in it’s infancy, but it’s advancing quickly,” he said. The area, the resources, the population base – all of those things are there. It’s just making sure we create some real stability administratively, and with the coaching staff so that we can allow that process to move along as the athletes move along.”
