Snapshot: ZEF awards fall grants

2017 Fall Classroom Grant Summary

  • William Doublestein, Boone Meadow Elementary, $9,013.13, for The Orff Classroom: Instruments That Last. The grant will provide a set of mallet instruments.
  • Jen Skura, Stonegate Elementary, $4,289.76, for Making It Real: Hands-on Coding and Engineering. The grant will allow the students to explore the worlds of coding and engineering through age-appropriate, engaging, hands-on tools.
  • Erin Kay and elementary STEM teachers, $4,575 for a STEM Capstone Project for Fourth Grade. The grant allows students to create a solution for an environmental disaster while learning about alternative sources of energy.
  • Brandon Mooradian, Kelli Dixon and Patti McNally, Zionsville Community High School, $1,948.44, for Hearing the Text. The grant provides CPens and Aftershokz headphones to assist students with reading comprehension difficulties.
  • Julie Noel, ZCHS, $3,000, for STEPS to Independence. The grant will provide environmental education and wilderness exploration opportunities for students in the Student Transition and Employment Partnership program.
  • Jen Gibson, Zionsville Middle School, $4,200, for the Creation Studio. The grant will repurpose space at ZMS for graphic design projects, stop motion animated films and computer editing.
  • Christina Saboleski, ZMS, $1041.13 for Bringing Theater to the Classroom. This grant will provide tools for a student-designed set for classroom use.
  • Andy Seward, ZMS, $1,622.94, Vex IQ Robotics Club. The grant will help ZMS launch a competitive robotics team.
