Pampering just went to a whole new level in the Carmel area with the opening of The Beauty Bar, the first salon bar in the state to legally serve alcohol. With an alcoholic beverage permit, the salon can serve clients beer, wine and champagne cocktails while they relax.

“For me, getting pampered and enjoying time with friends and family while sipping on a glass of wine is the best. Life is busy, and it’s nice to have a place to enjoy some time with yourself or friends,” said Erin Hunt, owner of The Beauty Bar. “When I lived in South Florida, this was a salon concept there, which I frequently visited. I knew we could recreate this concept, once we moved back to Indiana, to be even better.”

The Carmel salon is the second for The Beauty Bar, which debuted in the Geist area in 2014. Hunt said the goal is to create an atmosphere that encourages guests to “let loose, enjoy their time and spend time with friends and family.”

“Life is full of beauty. Take the road less-traveled, have another glass, laugh a little harder, dream bigger and love harder,” Hunt said.

The Beauty Bar wants every client to feel comfortable at the salon.

“This is a judgment-free zone. We want men to feel comfortable coming and getting a pedicure with a beer. You fried your hair with the flat iron, tried to cut your own bangs, chipped a nail building a table. We will fix it,” said Melissa Brodahl, The Beauty Bar marketing and content strategist. “It’s what we love to do. The client/stylist relationship is just that, a relationship, and we strive to continue that core value.”

The 3,100-square-foot salon at 14647 N. Gray Rd., has 15 employees. Prices range from $18 to $125 for hair services to $50 to $110 for a massage. The Beauty Bar is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
