Bonnie Lou Coates Kiefer, 56, of Fishers, died Dec. 30 surrounded by her family.

Born March 6, 1961 in Chillicothe, Ohio, to parents Barbara Lou Coates (nee Jackson) and C. D. “Whitey” Coates, Bonnie lived fully and loved deeply. Whether she had known someone for 10 minutes or 10 years, she always made them feel welcomed and loved, and she was always there to offer guidance for any problem, no matter how small.

Bonnie was the type of woman who could accomplish anything she set her mind to. At Chillicothe High School, she played three sports: volleyball, basketball and softball. She went to St. Francis College, where she studied medical technology. She later earned her master’s degree in leadership from Walden University.

She excelled at her career in pharmaceuticals, winning many awards for her work, including a spot in the Pfizer Hall of Fame. Outside of work, she loved to paint, garden and create pottery. Above all, she loved her family and friends, and she made sure they felt her love every day.

She leaves behind two grown children, Adam John Kiefer and Nathan Smith Kiefer (Hannah) as well as her husband of 30 years, Dale. She also is survived by her parents Barbara and Whitey Coates; siblings Laurie Lou Helke (Mark), Linda Lou Kight (Dave), Becky Lou McKeever (Greg), and Terry Duane Coates (Tammy); parent-in-laws Carol (nee Jones) and Charlie Kiefer; brother-in-law Steve Kiefer (Theresa); and many nieces and nephews.
