GEICO, one of the largest auto-insurers in the U.S., announced Feb. 27 that its offices in Carmel will expand and create up to 1,474 new jobs by the end of 2022.

The company will spend $16 million to double its facility to more than 200,000 square feet at 101 W. 103rd St. along the Meridian Corridor.

“This is very exciting news for GEICO and the City of Carmel. We have worked closely with GEICO over the years to expand their presence in Carmel, ever since their arrival to our Meridian Corporate Corridor a few years ago,” Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard stated in a press release. “It is good to see that their investment is paying off with their continued success. We look forward to assisting in their efforts to fill these job openings by continuing to build a community focused on a high quality of life for all.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is offering GEICO up to $16 million in tax credits to allow for the expansion, pending approval from IEDC’s board of directors. GEICO will add information technology and claims positions to its existing operations in Carmel.
