There are many women’s networking groups in Boone County, but none with the sole purpose of inspiring women. That is, until now. The Boone County Chamber of Commerce has created a new series, Women Inspiring Women, to facilitate what the name suggests.
“Our mission is to provide personal and professional development opportunities to advance women in Boone County,” said Diane Schultz, the chamber’s executive director. “It began because women in Boone County had approached me and asked for a group like this. We have a wonderful steering committee that met last year, and we worked together to create this group really to inspire women.”
The events are held quarterly and include breakfast and a presentation.
“We do a breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. There is time to network before the event starts,” Schultz said. “From 8 to 9 a.m., we have a presentation. We asked the women what topics they would like to see at these events. We are really addressing their needs, and that’s how we have come up with our presenters.”
Upcoming events are April 24, July 24 and Oct. 23. Schultz said the program also will continue next year.
“One of the great things is that it’s all women from the greater Boone County region,” she said. “Us working together makes a positive impact on the Boone County community.”
The April 24 guest speaker will be JoDee Curtis, author of “JoyPowered: Intentionally Creating an Inspired Workspace and the JoyPowered Family.”
“We’re excited that JoDee Curtis will be speaking,” Schultz said. “Her business, Purple Ink, is a member of the Boone County Chamber. It’s great that she can speak to our whole group. I think the topic is going to be relevant to all of our attendees.”
