The Fishers Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 199 will host its fourth annual cornhole tournament at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 at the Harley Davidson of Indianapolis, 12400 Reynolds Dr. The 64-team, double-elimination fundraiser will begin at noon. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

There will be a kid’s area with bouncy houses, a live band, a silent auction, hair braiding, face painting and food and drink tickets. Bier Brewery will sell drinks.

J.D. Floyd, president of the Fishers FOP Lodge, said proceeds will benefit five local causes, including Riley Children’s Hospital to help give back to an organization that once helped the lodge.

“The secretary of our lodge, Andy Burks, his son was diagnosed with brain cancer a couple years ago,” Floyd said. “They spent a lot of time at Riley, and it was a long, drawn-out fight to try and beat this cancer. Riley did a magnificent job with Hunter and was able to remove the cancer. He’s now in remission and he’s thriving.”

Besides Riley, proceeds also will help fund a high school scholarship in memory of Ron Shepard, a fallen Fishers police officer; the Pack the Cruiser Food Drive, where community members pack a police cruiser with non-perishable food items for local food banks; FPD Cops and Kids, where police officers take underprivileged children shopping; and the Peyton Riekhof Foundation, an organization that brings awareness to mental health issues and provides resources for children and parents.

Tournament registration is $75 per team. To register, visit fop199.org/events/2018-cornhole-tournament/cornhole-registration/.
