Combines harvest soy beans in a "flying-V" formation. The excess stalks and empty bean pods are ejected out the back of each combine and spread out across the field.

Just south of the intersection of S.R. 47 and U.S. 421, 40 acres of crops are farmed each year by Growing Hope, a partnership of the Boone County Farm Bureau, Love INC, and local farmers. Love INC is a national organization with a mission to help local churches accomplish service projects by facilitating the exchange of resources and ideas. Funds raised from the sale of this year’s crop, harvested Sept. 22., will be donated to Love INC to fund a full-time ministry coordinator for its Living Hope ministry. The project brings together members of the community to run the machinery and organize the harvest. (Photos by Benjamin Stout)
