Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is looking to open a second Hamilton County restaurant in west Carmel.

ICT LLC, which owns and operates the fast-causal burger chain, has filed plans for a restaurant at 9701 N. Michigan Rd. The vacant 1.3-acre site is at the northeast corner of Michigan Road and 97th Street. ICT LLC’s proposal for the new 3,710-square-foot restaurant is planned to go before the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals.

Freddy’s operates a restaurant in Westfield at 2740 E. 146th St., its only Hamilton County location. The chain is known for its classic American 1950s atmosphere and  steakburgers, shoestring fries and vanilla and chocolate frozen custard. Freddy’s locations feature dining areas and drive-thrus.

According to Freddy’s Public Relations Specialist Kim Huynh, Carmel would be an ideal place.

“We want to be a convenient dining option for guests in different parts of town,” Huynh said. “In our first Hamilton County location, we got really good feedback from everyone, so we’re confident about Carmel.”

Huynh said Blake Epperson of Indianapolis would be the franchise owner of the new location, should plans move forward. She also said that Freddy’s is not concerned about competing with Carmel’s many other burger restaurants, such as Burgerhaus, Bub’s, Bru Burger, Punch Burger and Steak ‘n Shake.

“What sets us apart is the hospitality aspect,” Hunyh said. “We’re convenient, we cook made-to-order steakburgers and Vienna beef hotdogs, but what we really do is we make an effort to become familiar with our guests. We know their favorite menu items and we connect with them.”
