Road Construction

Indianapolis Power & Light, along with Duke Energy, are gearing up for utility work on Gray Road that will result in some temporary road restrictions and closures, although local access for residents in the area will be maintained at all times.

Duke is seeking approval from the Carmel Board of Public Works to close sections of Gray Road between 96th and 116th streets while it removes a transmission line from the poles. IPL previously received this approval for its work. Upon Duke’s approval, the following schedule would be put into place:

The BPW meets on Feb. 6 to consider these proposed road closures.

This is not a City of Carmel city project, but rather a private utilities project. Utilities have legislative authority to work in public right of way.

Questions may be directed to Joshua Kirsh, engineering administrator for the City of Carmel, at Jkirsh@carmel.in.gov or 317-571-2441.
