Edwards files for re-election bid

Lifelong Westfield resident Joe Edwards recently filed to seek re-election for his Westfield City Council District 3 seat. He was elected in 2015 and began his term in 2016.

Edwards said his candidacy is based on the desire to serve the citizens of Westfield and be a part of shaping the city’s future. He is a member of the Westfield Lions Club, a member of the Westfield Friends Church and a member of the Hinkle Masonic Lodge 310. He also serves on the Hamilton County Economic Development Commission, the Grand Junction Task Force and the Westfield Schools Building Corp.

In addition to his seat on council, he also chairs the council’s Oversight Committee, which led the installation of the Open Gov website for public transparency of the city’s financial information. If re-elected, Edwards plans to continue to striving for fiscal responsibility and responsible growth.

“I’m excited to be a part of the growth of our city while keeping the small-town feel,” he said.

Edwards graduated from Westfield High School and Butler University. He worked at Indiana Farm Bureau as treasurer and chief financial officer. He is now retired. He also established Edwards/Steele Financial Services with longtime friend Carl Steele.

Edwards is married to Jo Ann. They have two children, Jackie (Dale) Hiatt and Joseph Wade (recently deceased), and a daughter-in-law, Meg Edwards. They have six grandchildren.
