At the April 13 TechPoint Mira Awards in downtown Indianapolis, the City of Fishers was named the first-ever Rising Tech City. This was the 20th year for the awards ceremony.

According to a press release from the City of Fishers, the award recognizes Mayor Scott Fadness’ leadership in driving access and support for entrepreneurship in Fishers.

“From the leadership of the City Council and Launch Fishers and Indiana IoT Lab co-founder John Wechsler to entrepreneurs like Emplify’s Santiago Jaramillo and Clear Object’s John McDonald, this accomplishment is the culmination of the hard work and dreams of the entire Fishers business community,” Fadness stated. “We are fortunate to have a close-knit community in Fishers that is willing to share lessons learned and celebrate the successes of our peers. It’s an honor to have been recognized as Rising Tech City.”

The Rising Tech City award was created this year. It recognizes cities, towns, communities or regions in the state by celebrating those that have championed the area’s advancement with an emphasis on tech friendliness.

Several other Fishers-based companies were finalists for the Mira Award: They were:

  • Mobile reCell – Tech Service of the Year
  • Scott Fadness, Mayor of Fishers – Community Champion of the Year
  • John McDonald, CEO, ClearObject – Community Champion of the Year
  • Six Feet Up – Community Champion of the Year
  • BLASTmedia – Exceptional Employer Award
  • Jobvite – Scale-up of the Year
