Commentary by Julia Church Kozicki

Since announcing my candidacy as a mayoral candidate in August 2018, I have had my sights fixed on the May 7 primary election. With that date just days away, I believe my vision for Noblesville’s future is more important than ever.

As I outlined when I announced my intention to run, I am committed to “Leading Tomorrow,” including:

Communities thrive when citizens feel a sense of love, security and belonging. That is my vision for Noblesville as mayor. These are important lessons we have learned working with the Noblesville Diversity Coalition. I will make myself available in and out of City Hall so that I can hear both the joys and concerns about our city.

When my parents moved to Noblesville in 1966, the county seat only had 5,500 residents. As we approach the city’s bicentennial, we have more than 62,000 residents with diverse needs and expectations. The collaborative and inclusive style of leadership I have demonstrated as a member of the Noblesville School Board, Hamilton County Leadership Academy and Noblesville Tri Kappa is directly transferrable to leading Noblesville as mayor.

We have an opportunity with this election to evaluate our processes and make sure we are being efficient with taxpayer dollars. As mayor, I will make sure our city government is meeting the needs of our citizens.
