Avid hotel proposed to anchor new mixed-use building on Illinois Street

A new mixed-use building with retail and restaurant space on the ground floor and a hotel on the top three floors has been proposed at 13300 N. Illinois Street.

Yorktown-based Saamrajya LLC has filed plans to construct the 50,286-square-foot building on more than three acres of vacant land. An Avid hotel would occupy most of the building. It is proposed to have 99 rooms in the building’s upper levels and has requested a variance to allow the hotel lobby, laundry room and exercise area on the ground floor.

Avid currently operates hotels in Oklahoma, Texas and Florida, with others planned to open in Fort Wayne and Monona, Wisc., this fall.

Avid hotels are part of the IHG brand, which also includes Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites and several other hotels and resorts.
