Local dancers will be putting the community in the holiday spirit just a few days before Christmas with a show based on a popular ballet that debuted in 1995.

Dancers of all levels from En Pointe Indiana dance studio in Noblesville will present “An En Pointe Christmas” at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 and 2 p.m. Dec 21 at Noblesville High School’s auditorium, 18111 Cumberland Rd.

“It’s based off of Smuin’s ‘The Christmas Ballet,’ and in that, Michael Smuin just wanted to introduce ballet to everyone, so it really offers a variety of different dances,” said Robert Moore, co-artistic director and co-owner of En Pointe Indiana Ballet with his wife, Pollyana Robeiro.

Moore said the show’s first act will create a more classical Christmas feel.

“The first act is white, classic Christmas,” he said. “It’s really ballet-based.”

The second act pays tribute to more modern Christmas themes.

“It’s ‘cool Christmas,’ and it’s all in red and more to popular Christmas music like ‘Santa Baby’ and ‘Run Run Rudolph,’” Moore said. “It’s more jazz inspired, so it really gives the dancers a range of opportunities to perform in one show.”

The studio’s dancers also are looking a few months ahead to performing “Curiousity,” an original ballet, set for Feb. 14 and 15.
