Local woman launches organizing biz

Carla Cupp insists the best time to leap into new organizational habits is the beginning of a new year.

The Noblesville resident is a nurse in Carmel, but she recently launched Unraveled Mindful Organizing. She calls it a lifestyle service.

“I wanted to do something fun for me,” Cupp said. “Basically, if someone needs help in the way of organizing any area in their home or office – downsizing, senior move management, I work with Realtors for packing and unpacking moves, anything of that sort, décor. That’s what I do.”

Cupp said she has always loved organizing, and she practices it in her own home. She calls herself a “cozy minimalist.”

“I think we think of minimalists as bare necessities, but that’s not necessarily true. I love items – beautiful, sentimental and few,” Cupp said. “I think our culture has this mentality of buying more and more, and really, that’s not what makes us happy. I’m more about less is more.”

Depending on the project, Cupp said her service ranges from $50 to $75 an hour. She waives her consulting consult fee if the client signs up for her services.

In the wake of Christmas, Cupp said January is an ideal time to organize.

“We obtained so many more items (at Christmas), and we are going through our décor and getting all of that storage in our attic and getting the decorations down and realizing, ‘Oh my goodness, I’m overloaded with things,'” she said. “It’s the perfect time.”
