Plan commission OKs rezone, amendment requests

Among other business, the Westfield Advisory Plan Commission sworn in members and elected officers at its Jan. 21 meeting. The next APC meeting is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 3 at City Hall, 130 Penn St. For more, or to see an agenda, visit westfield.in.gov.

What happened: Because it was the first meeting of the year, all members of the APC were sworn in by City Attorney Brian Zager.

What it means: Commission members are Andre Maue, Kristen Burkman, Victor McCarty, Ginny Kelleher, Randy Graham, Bob Horkay, Cindy Spoljaric, Dave Schmitz and Mike Johns.

 

What happened: The commission elected officers for 2020.

What it means: Randy Graham and Ginny Kelleher were elected president and vice president, respectively. The council unanimously approved the nominations.

 

What happened: The commission approved a detailed development plan for a new day care.

What it means: Kiddie Academy plans to build a 10,759-square-foot day care facility on 1.35 acres at the northwest corner of 146th Street and Ditch Road in the Harmony planned unit development district.

 

What happened: The commission held a public hearing for an amendment to the Davis planned unit development district.

What it means: Estridge Homes and 11th Street Development are requesting an amendment to the PUD district to more clearly define architectural standards for its housing development, the Serenade subdivision at the southwest corner of 161st Street and Ditch Road.

No residents spoke during the public hearing. The commission voted to send a favorable recommendation to the Westfield City Council, which will make a determination about approval at a future meeting.
