The Fishers Police Dept. is investigating the death of a 71-year-old male kayaker from Indianapolis. The death occurred overnight June 16 on Geist Reservoir.

Shortly after 11 p.m. June 16, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Dept. contacted FPD about a missing person investigation. FPD officers located the missing person and his kayak at 1 a.m. June 17. The kayaker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fishers detectives, evidence technicians, and conservation officers from the Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources responded. The death is suspected to be an accidental drowning with no foul play, however, FPD and the DNR will conduct joint investigations. Both investigations remain active.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Det. Edgar Holmes at 317-595-1430.

FPD did not release the name of the deceased.
