“I desire to serve on the board because I love Carmel, love children and believe the body leading our district should be comprised of a variety of perspectives, backgrounds and experiences to ensure we meet the needs of a diverse population of students with different learning styles,” she said

Jackson is one of nine candidates running for two at-large seats in the Nov. 3 election. This is the first time Jackson has run for an office.

“I look forward to serving my community and sharing my passion about ensuring all children continue to receive the stellar education they need and deserve,” she said.

Jackson sees important issues affecting the district as various questions the board should address.

“How do we challenge ourselves and our students to be innovative and adapt quickly to an ever-changing world through our programming?” she said. “How can we assess and address students’ individual needs most effectively to empower them to achieve their personal best? I recognize the great work our teachers are doing every day to attain outstanding academic achievement and want to know how we can ensure they feel supported and appreciated so they continue to feel motivated to set our district up for success.”

Jackson said students need to see themselves in the district’s leaders and educators, so she said the district should explore how to recruit certified and noncertified staff with that in mind.

“How do we strengthen community relations in our district so all families feel included and connected?” she said. “These are all opportunities for our board to continue to make Carmel the best place to live and educate children in order to give them the global mindset that will ensure that they are successful in the future.”

Jackson grew up in Indianapolis, and she and her family moved to Carmel seven years ago. She is married and has two children in CCS. She is the founder and CEO of Talent Cabinet, which helps organizations develop and market their brand and creates human resource strategies.
