Public advised to avoid W. Main Street as Carmel police investigate shooting

Carmel police are advising the public to avoid the area near 400 W. Main St. as they continue investigating a shooting incident that left at least one person injured.

Carmel Police Dept. PIO Tim Byrne said officers responded to the area shortly after 11:30 a.m. Jan. 31 after receiving a call about a person in a house firing shots outside.
Additional shots were fired after the person exited the house, although Byrne said it’s not clear who fired the shots. The suspect sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
