Carmel held an ice carving contest Feb. 21, hosting 8 of the top ice carvers in the Midwest. Winners were chosen using a combination of on-site paper ballots and Facebook votes. Greg Butauski of Sunbury, Ohio, finished in first place. Shannon Gerasimchik of Columbus, Ohio, finished in second place, and Stephan Koch of Daleville, Ind., and Benjamen Goebel of Whitmore Lake, Mich., tied for third place.
