Rotary Club of Westfield presents speaker series

The Rotary Club of Westfield member Dave Mueller said the purpose of the club’s new speaker series is to capture past 50 years of history in Westfield and Hamilton County and share it with the community.

Through the course of several weeks, the club has featured speakers such as Beau Wilfong, who helped develop areas such as Carmel Drive and the Target in Westfield; Chip Habig, a land developer and garden shop owner; and Steve Henke, a land developer in Westfield. Jim Gapinski of Heartland Growers will present at a future meeting, as will Gary Varvel, former cartoonist for the Indianapolis Star.

“We know the history of the early days, the 1800s, with the Quakers coming to town, but there’s a lot that has occurred here in not only Westfield but in Hamilton County in the last 50 years,” Mueller said. “These speakers we invited are people that are the first- or second-generation influencers in our county, and we want to hear their story and capture their story.”
The meetings are conducted on Zoom, and they’re recorded and later posted to the club’s YouTube channel.

The meetings are free to attend. They start at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays with the speaker beginning at 7:45 a.m. and speaking until 8:30 a.m. For the Zoom link, email Mueller at [email protected].
