INDOT logo gif 475x310 q85 2The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to restrict traffic lanes on I-69 at the 116th Street and State Road 37 interchange (exit 5) beginning this week.

Northbound I-69 will be restricted to two lanes beginning at the exit ramp to 116th Street and State Road 37 (exit 5).  The far left lane and the inside right lane of mainline I-69 will be restricted beginning Wednesday, May 2.  This traffic configuration is scheduled to last until October.

Alternating lane restrictions will be necessary overnight Wednesday to put the traffic configuration into place.  These alternating lane restrictions will take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., and all ramp lanes will be open during the process.

Milestone Contractors, the state’s contractor for the $18 million Operation Indy Commute project, plans to proceed with the restrictions in order to begin construction on the new double-lane flyover ramp to State Road 37.  Milestone originally planned to implement the traffic configuration in early June, but will begin erecting bridge piers earlier to ensure completion this year.

Milestone will continue nighttime lane restrictions for pavement widening on the 116th Street loop ramp, the State Road 37 flyover ramp and the collector-distributor connecting the ramps to I-69.  These restrictions will take place Monday through Saturday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
