Editor,

Your cover page picture and headline of last week’s Current in Zionsville was misleading.  While no one wants drug use or “highs” at school, random drug testing (RDT) at the high school has yet to be voted upon by the Zionsville Board of Trustees. First reading of the RDT proposal was presented at the May 12 school board meeting. The RDT proposal will again be discussed at the next meeting of the Board of Trustees on June 9.  If the Board approves the proposal, random drug testing will begin at Zionsville Community High School in August.

I encourage all parents and community members with concerns and/or questions about the proposed random drug testing implementation to attend the next Board of School Trustees meeting on June 9 at 6:00 pm in the Educational Service Center located at 900 Mulberry Street.
