Savor Westfield, an inaugural event with hopes of raising money for new playground equipment at Oak Trace Elementary, will allow community members to taste samples from 20 different restaurants, wineries and breweries in or around Westfield.

Adrienne Epstein, a co-chair for Savor Westfield, said that when she and her family moved to Westfield they couldn’t believe all the restaurants in the area.

“This is a great opportunity for the people of Westfield to try some local fare,” co-chair Michele Lyons said. “And a great opportunity for the restaurants to get their name out there to some of those who may not be able to get around to new places often.”

One hundred percent of the funds raised will go to the new playground equipment.

“We were realizing the over crowdedness and the aging feel of the playground equipment.  With all of the new neighborhoods popping up, we saw a huge rapid growth at Oak Trace,” Epstein said. “Over time, we realized that the amount of playground equipment was insufficient for the student population.”

Out of the 600 tickets available, Lyons and Epstein have already sold 500. Pre-sale will continue through Sept. 29 or until all tickets are sold, for $25 each. Then, if tickets are still available, they will be sold at the door of the event for $30.

To purchase a presale ticket, visit Rail Epicurean Market during normal business hours.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater Club in Westfield. A DJ will be present, and in addition to the funds for the playground equipment, guests can spend $10 to enter a gift card raffle, in which the proceeds would be split between the Westfield Youth Assistance Program and Oak Trace.

“I want to celebrate with the community all of the wonderful treasures we have in Westfield,” Epstein said.  “I want to celebrate these delicious restaurants that are backed with so much heart, that truly believe in our community and our city.  I want us to celebrate what wonderful schools we have here in Westfield.”
