The DeVeau’s Gymnastics Booster Club’s Golf & Gala event will be Oct. 7 at Hawthorns Golf Country Club, 1225 Club Point Dr., Fishers.

“We’re trying to raise money for our competitive boys’ and girls’ teams, they compete nationally and travel costs can be expensive so we’re trying to raise money for the kids,” owner Joan DeVeau said.

The Fishers gymnastics school has been in business for 35 years.

“So, we are trying to get the alums to come so we can have a chance to catch up,” DeVeau said. “It’s a family-oriented business. Most of the members who have children in the competitive team program have become very good friends so we want to get everybody together for a big party. Everybody is welcome. They don’t have to be a DeVeau’s alum or team member parent.”

Booster club president Karen Slaton said it helps with coaches’ travel costs.

“The booster club reimburses the coaches for their meals, their hotels and their airfare,” Slaton said.

Slaton said this is totally separate from monthly fees.

“We do the typical poinsettia and cookie dough sales, but our really big fundraiser is the Circle of Stars Gymnastics meet (set for January 19-21, 2018 at the Indiana Convention Center,” Slaton said

Slaton’s son, Ashton, 11, is a DeVeau’s member. Slaton’s daughter, Jessica, was a top gymnast at DeVeau’s and the 2007 Hamilton Southeastern High School graduate then competed at Ohio State.

The band Karma will be performing at the gala.

The Prime Car Wash is the sponsor for a hole-in-one contest for a lifetime pass for a car wash.  Christi Hubler Chevrolet (Crawfordsville) and Greg Hubler Chevrolet (Camby), along with father Howard Hubler, are co-sponsoring a hole-in-one to award a Chevy Cruze. A silent auction will be part of the gala.

“The response has been very good so far,” club co-vice president Kellie Sherrill said.

Tickets for the Golf & Gala are $125 apiece. There is a dinner only option for $45 per person.

There are various levels of sponsorships available and volunteers. For more, visit GOLFDGBC on Facebook or email [email protected].
