A call to serve is driving Chris Jeter’s first foray into politics.

Jeter, a Republican and Fishers resident, is running to fill the District 88 seat in the Indiana House of Representatives. Republican Brian Bosma is the incumbentt but will retire at the end of his term in 2020.

“My life has been one about service, and I feel that call again,” Jeter said. “I want to ensure Indiana’s next chapter is its best one yet, filled with the same economic opportunity, personal freedom and quality education that I enjoyed growing up,” Jeter said.

With a campaign focused on promoting low taxes and market-fueled economic growth, Jeter said he cares about school funding and supporting teachers.

“We can accomplish these goals and still focus on the need to fully fund our public schools in a way that retains teachers and prepares our students for careers in our current technology-driven economy,” he said.

Jeter has been married to Karen for six years. They have two children, Macy, 4, and Hayden, 1, with another due in July. He is an attorney and partner at Massillamany Jeter & Carson LLP in Fishers. He also is a U.S. Navy veteran.

“As a husband, father and small business owner working every day in our community, I am acutely aware of the challenges and opportunities we face,” Jeter said. “As a military officer and veteran of the Iraq War, I have benefitted from being in positions of leadership and training that have helped shape my personal and professional life. While I am not a politician, I believe my military and business experience give me a great deal of perspective and understanding that would help me serve my neighbors and broader community as our next state representative.”
