Fishers Fire Department cul-de-sac drills set

The City of Fishers Fire Department’s annual cul-de-sac drills start May 31 and run through the end of July. 

The drills take place in local neighborhoods every summer. During the events, firefighters get out the hoses, spray water and give little and big kids an opportunity to handle the hose line or run through the spray, according to the FFD website.

The goal is to build relationships with people in the neighborhoods. Firefighters share personal stories about what it’s like to do the job and provide education on how most – but not all – fires can be prevented, according to the website.

“Creating a relationship between the community and the firefighters that protect them builds trust, encourages behavioral change for safety and gives confidence and comfort in knowing (them) personally,” FFD Chief Steve Orusa stated. 

The drills scheduled for this summer are:

  • May 31: Harrison Park (Robinson Run) and Bridger Pines (Sonnette Court)
  • June 3: Gray Eagle (Red Hawk Drive and Walker Lane) and Berkley Grove (Overlook Court and Briar Stone Lane)
  • June 7: Sandstone Lakes (Castlestone Drive and Steppingstone Drive) and Princeton Park (Rutgers Lane and Manchester Drive)
  • June 10: Heritage Green (Ashbury Circle and Greenway Drive), Fishers Farms (Oak Grove Court) and Silverton (Bonner Circle)
  • June 14: Sandstone Village (Adirondack Court and Apalachian Way) and Sunblest Farms (Glennwood Lane and Lake Vista Drive)
  • June 17: Spyglass Falls (Hidden Falls Circle and Ragsdale Place), The Bristols (Panthers Way) and Thorpe Creek (Harvest Glen Boulevard South and Shady Knoll Drive)
  • June 21: Delaware Crossing (Bay Lane and Crossing Drive), Anderson Hall (Creekbed Circle) and Turnberry (Fernie Circle)
  • June 24: Charleston Crossing (Raleigh Lane) and Canal Place (Stella Court and Giselle Way)
  • June 28: Cottingham Estates (Gillingham Lane) and Ravinia (Ruxton Court and Randford Boulevard)
  • July 1: Royalwood (Princewood Court and Chapelwood Lane) and Eller Run (Creekview Lane and Valleyview Drive)
  • July 5: Sunblest (Carly Place) and Bluffs at Flatfork (Rocky Creek Lane and Flat Fork Drive)
  • July 8: Meadowbrook (Kittery Drive and Norwich Court) and Northfield Estates (Newbury Court and North Hampton Drive)
  • July 12: Sandstone Lakes (Cobblefield Court and Limestone Drive) and Gatewood (Wood Court and Oakridge Drive)
  • July 15: Spyglass Ridge (Misty Knoll Court and Brixton Lane), Granite Ridge (Granite Ridge Circle) and Whelchel Springs (Lantana Lane and Nettle Lane)
  • July 19: Stonebridge (Main Sail Court and Brixton Lane), The Flats Apartments (Ambleside Drive) and Avalon of Fishers (Balfour Road and Foggy Glen Way)
  • July 22: Sunblest (Cameron Place) and Heritage at Vermillion (Province Court and Edgerton Lane)
  • July 26: Windermere (Windward Pass and Windermere Boulevard), Rosewood (Sugarleaf Place) and Hunters Run (Eastpark Circle E. and Forest Glade Drive) 
  • July 29: Lantern Ridge (Castetter Court) and Weatherstone (Hawkstone Drive and Stonegate Drive)
