The City of Carmel dedicated the green space at the Mélange development May 24 as Mayor Jane’s Courtyard, named in honor of former Mayor Jane Reiman. Reiman, 91, who served as mayor from 1980 to 1987, described Mélange as a “beautiful building” and encouraged those in attendance to give back to the community by considering service in elected office. Mélange, a $30 million residential project with for-sale luxury townhomes and flats, is on the Monon Greenway north of Civic Square. It was developed through a partnership between the Carmel Redevelopment Commission and Onyx + East. Mayor Jane’s Courtyard, which is marked with a plaque outlining Reiman’s accomplishments, is open to the public. (Photos by Ann Marie Shambaugh)
