Shame on the mayor and his office for attempting to reprimand Republic Waste for pulling its drivers off the streets in the middle of a BLIZZARD WARNING. I manage truck drivers for a living and made the exact same decision. Decisions like these are made with only the drivers’ safety in mind and nothing else. I would assume Republic hires only the safest drivers, however they have to take into account all of the other idiot drivers on the road who drive too fast for the road conditions.
Kudos to Republic for making the right decision to protect its employees, and shame on the Mayor for losing touch with reality.
P.S. I talked to my trash that day, and it did not mind waiting another day to be picked up!!
