The BCSSI Announces April senior activities schedule

The BCSSI has announced its April 1 to 5 senior activities schedule. Activities include everything from cards and trips to computer classes.

Art Classes (Boys and Girls Club, Mulberry Street)

Every Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the multipurpose room with local art instructor Shirley Luttrell.  Cost is $5 per class.  Shirley is happy to work with beginners, intermediate students and any medium; oils, acrylics, watercolors.

Support Group (Boys and Girls Club, Mulberry Street) 

The second and fourth Tuesday of each month (March 12 and 26) 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the media room. Are you responsible for the wellbeing of another adult?  Whether you are the spouse or the adult child of a senior, as a caregiver you will be offered support through open discussion. Facilitators Rachel Gerrish, Franciscan Visiting Nurses at St. Francis and Serge Monperous, Peoplefirst Homecare and Hospice will offer engaging and educational presentations to assist caregivers in developing supportive relationships. The adult being cared for by the caregiver will also be welcome to attend the group. There will be meaningful activities in which they can participate.

Cards (Boys and Girls Club, Mulberry Street) 

Bridge and Euchre every Wednesday, 10a.m. to 2 p.m. Location will vary based on facility usage.

Computer Classes (Zionsville United Methodist Church)

Independent Consultation-$20.00

Every Wednesday –10 a.m. to 12 p.m. located in the Narthex of Zionsville United Methodist Church (ZUMC). Do you have a computer project you need help completing? Instructor John Paulsrud will help you with solutions. This class is for students who have some computer knowledge. Make checks payable to ZUMC.  Space is limited.  Registration is required.  For more information or to enroll contact Boone County Senior Services at 317-873-8939 or 765-482-5220.

Exercise Classes (Boys and Girls Club, Mulberry Street)

“Fun & Fit for Over Fifty”, every Thursday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the gym with instructor Josh Dickey, New Energy Wellness Coordinator.

Lunch and Learn

Friday, March 22, noon till 1 p.m. in Zionsville Town Hall Community Room. Josh Dickey, New Energy Wellness Coordinator from American Senior Communities, will discuss the importance of staying active and physically fit.  Lunch, which is free to the first 30 registrants, will be provided by Zionsville Meadows. Please contact BCSSI to register.  Zionsville residents in need of transportation must contact BCSSI transportation department at 317-873-8939 or 765-482-5220 and speak to Cindy Elliott or Kate Koehler.

BCSSI Van Trips

Tuesday, March 19, 9 a.m., Tippecanoe Mall, Lafayette.

Van trip attendees must call BCSSI at 765-482-5220 or 317-873-8939 for more information or to sign-up prior to trip departure.  Meet at BCSSI for departure.  Transportation fees and meal costs are the responsibility of the attendee.  Call BCSSI @ 765-482-5220 to schedule personal transportation appointments.

Travel Group

May 29-June 4-Boston, Salem and the New England North Shore

Cost is $ 565 per person based on double occupancy.  Single and triple occupancy prices are also available.  Includes round trip motorcoach transportation, luggage handling and gratuities with Diamond Tours; 7 days, 6 nights lodging; 10 meals; 6 breakfasts and 4 dinners; a guided tour of historical City of Boston, Concord, Lexington and Salem; visit the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, Quincy Marketplace and Cambridge, home of Harvard University.
