Ready for the 2014 mayoral election

By Dan Domsic

I had the opportunity to break the news regarding the mayoral election in 2014.

As I sit and try to plan out my news budgets for the month, I wonder how big of a role the upcoming election will play in what I cover.

Not a lot of communities have the opportunity to take place in such a sweeping change. Few reporters have the opportunity to cover something like this.

I’m looking forward to it, though I don’t know if the newsmakers involved have the same feelings.

This is a major shift for Fishers, and it will be interesting to see which political contestants come out on top. Will the first mayor be a familiar face? Will the city council seats be filled by most of the current officials with a few new faces around?

Only time will tell. Until then, I’ll be keeping my eyes and ears open, and ready for the big stories.
