Boy Scout Troop 358 seeking memorabilia

Boy Scout Troop 358 is asking the local community to search its attics and basements for old Boy Scout memorabilia and photos that could be used to help celebrate the organization’s 90th Anniversary this fall. Troop 358 leaders will host a special gala at 6 p.m. Sept. 14 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Parish Hall, 70 W. Oak St., Zionsville, to celebrate the milestone.

“It is so exciting to meet former boy scouts and scout leaders who were active members of our troop, which was chartered in 1923” said John Wiebke, Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 358, “We know the community is rich with stories and memorabilia of how the boy scouts operated so long ago.”

The theme for the anniversary celebration is “Where Tradition Meets the Future” and will focus on the youth of the community and their hopes and dreams as they plan for the future. Bill Stanczykiewicz, president and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute, will be the keynote speaker during the evening’s celebration.

Proceeds from the event will be used to fund a college scholarship for Troop 358 Eagle Scouts.

If you have items, including old photos, that might be of interest to Troop 358 for the gala, call 769-7963 or drop them off at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church office.  Donations, stories and other antidotes also will be appreciated.

Tickets are $75 per person and will include a sit-down dinner and presentations. Tickets are available by calling 615-584-6800 or by email at [email protected].
