Good Samaritans make a difference

Time and time again, I’m reminded of how great Fishers citizens can be to their neighbors and people around them.

During last week’s fire in Sandstone Village, Stefanie Jeffers and her family opened up their home to the people affected by the devastating blaze and those who witnessed it.

After speaking with me briefly about what she and experienced, she invited me into her home and gave me the opportunity to talk with one of the people that lost her home.

Getting out of the heat was enough to leave me feeling quite appreciative the gesture. Offering me a glass of water was even better. After running around the scene and trying to gather as much information as I could, I was quite parched.

When you’re chasing down a story, it’s nice to get a brief respite from the action and really take in what’s going on around you, and through that I was able to see something wonderful going on during a tragic situation.

It was a privilege to witness such kindness and generosity in action. Thank you to Stefanie and her family for doing a wonderful deed for neighbors in need.
