In the article “Are Carmel’s coyotes cause for concern?” it explained the horrific coyote attacks all around Carmel, where pets are left dead or wounded. I am a fifth-grader in Mrs. Kuhn’s 4/5 challenge class at Towne Meadow Elementary School and I have a strong opinion on this. The problem has been ongoing for years, but many were ambiguous of what to do next. In the article, it stated that Carmel was going to hire professional trappers. Traps could wound pets and other animals that aren’t disturbing anyone. Since Carmel is building so much, the coyotes are forced to move out of their homes. With the heavy snow we have been getting, it makes it incredibly hard for them to find food, which leads them to the neighborhoods. I suggest that they trap the coyotes and transport them to a local state park, or even just a wooded area where they can roam free. The coyotes can go to a better habitat and the citizens of Carmel can be confident they’re safe. Overall, I believe that transporting the coyotes to a different place would make Carmel a safer place for everyone.
