Joseph “Joe” Wayne Stephens, 54, of Westfield, died Friday, March 21, 2014, surrounded by his family at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born Jan. 23, 1960 in Stuttgart, Germany, he was the son of Joseph B. and Ruth (Benefiel) Stephens.
He was a graduate of Lawrence Central High School in 1978. He married Karen Stephens on Aug. 18, 1984. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Stephens; children, Chris Simpson, Britni Stephens and Sean Stephens; grandchildren, Cydni, Dillon and Logan Simpson; dog, Ralphie; and sisters, Denise Rath and Debbie Humes.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held March 25 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Rd., Noblesville. Burial followed at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Westfield.
